About Our Team

Alamo Home School is a robotics team consisting of middle and high school home schooled students that participate in the annual local BEST competition (SABEST). This will be our third year in this competition, and we look forward to many more years in BEST!

About BEST

BEST is an organization to excite our nation's students about engineering, science and technology to unlock their imagination and discover their potential.

There mission  is to inspire students to pursue careers in engineering, science, technology, and math through participation in a sports-like science and engineering based robotics competition.

Previous Competitions

Last year, the competition was Warp XX, a race celebrating BEST's twentieth anniversary. The goal was to build a robot that simulates a car on a space elevator. It needed to be able to pick up various forms of balls, bottles, and boxes, carry them up a pole, and put them into a bin.
Alamo Home School placed 4th in the robotics competition, 4th in the local BEST Award, and recieved the SAME Award.
Our team proceeded to the State Championships at Texas BEST in Dallas where we placed 17th out of over 60 teams and recieved the Judges Choice Award.

Our fake company for Warp XX was Armstrong Transportations, named after Neil Armstrong. Our robot has been dubbed the Arthur C. Clarke Elevator Transportation Unit (ETU), after the author who wrote The Fountains of Paradise, the original science fiction novel about a space elevator.
